What Is Laser Dentistry?

What Happens During Laser-Assisted Endodontic Treatment?

The laser is incorporated into your root canal procedure after the canals have been cleaned and shaped.

1. Examination and Diagnosis

Your endodontist will perform a thorough examination and obtain digital X-rays or a CBCT (3D CT) scan if necessary to evaluate your tooth and determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

2. Cleaning and Shaping the Root Canals

Using specialized endodontic instruments, your doctor carefully removes the infected or inflamed pulp tissue and shapes the root canals to prepare them for disinfection.

3. Laser Disinfection

A very thin laser fiber is gently inserted into each root canal. The EdgePRO laser delivers controlled laser energy throughout the canal system, helping eliminate bacteria, disrupt biofilm, and disinfect microscopic areas that may be difficult to reach with conventional techniques alone.

4. Sealing the Tooth

Once the canals have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, they are filled and sealed to help prevent future infection.

5. Final Restoration

Following root canal treatment, your general dentist may recommend a permanent filling or crown to restore the tooth's strength and function.
